One of my favorite things to do is take my camera and get lost. Sometimes I don’t know where I’ll end up, sometimes I have a specific plan and it’s to head someplace familiar. A place that is always on my go-to list is the Como Conservatory in St. Paul, Minnesota. They do this really cool thing once every month or so that they call “Artist & Photographer Hours.” This is a time where early on Sunday mornings, before the conservatory opens its doors to the public, artists and photographers can enjoy the space in the warm morning light. It’s usually pretty quiet. It’s a perfect time to do portrait sessions too, because no permit is required during this time and you don’t have a bunch of people to fight with.
I’ve really been trying to hone my style of photography and editing this year. I feel I’ve been a little all over the place since I purchased my Nikon DSLR in 2012. Of course I’m giving myself grace in that I have been learning and experimenting so much that logically a little “all over the place” would be the result. I think I’m getting closer to defining “me” in this journey.
